![]() ![]() At one point tvs had no remote, then came the technology to have one, but even in it's infant years there were still tvs available to buy without a remote. The DAP world continues to astonish me with failing to meet my and other peoples expectations, yer analgy of the tv without a remote is a good example. I feel as tho a dedicated EQ button is as obvious button to have as play/pause or skip! But i seem to be a minority on this (which I find unsettling). No mention anywhere of losing something in case of failure.ĭon't get me wrong, I am with you in DAPs not meeting my own requirements. Well, Mirriam-Webster's definition of "vested interest" is: But that's just it, the X series is not cheap, it warrants a richer set of features. I would want it the feature, don't get me wrong, but I do understand marketing and the incentive to get the more expensive product. Regardless, I can understand if the M3 lacks ReplayGain, as it is a lower tier player, etc. On the other hand, if the user never checked the features/specs before buying, then it's his/her own fault. Again, I'm not sure when what James had said about this, so I remain neutral and only speculate. If the user was told the M3 does have m3u playlist support but in reality it doesn't, then that's dishonest business. If a feature will be of use to many people and would require little effort to implement why not do so, regardless what it is? It's like being a sold a TV without a remote control and the response to "why doesn't it have a remote control" is "well, you can still get up, go to the TV and change the channel". Still, why would I want to go through all this hassle to achieve what I need when a more appropriate and convenient solution exists? It's just that at least in my case I use mainly Vorbis so at the very least MP3Gain is worthless for me. solution? Actually I would consider it more of a workaround. Yes, technically MP3Gain and foobar2000's ReplayGain would be a. ![]() I'm not as angry/pissed as I may come across, although I am at least somewhat angry. There is no way a player from 10 years ago can do ReplayGain but a cutting-edge FiiO player today could not. Rockbox has had this feature for years and this thing runs on ancient (by today's standards) players. Oh, and for the love of humanity please don't give me the stupid "it's hardware dependent" excuse. I don't see this as a particularly difficult feature to implement. Only downisde is some programming required which should be minimal I believe. It's basically essential to any audio enthusiast/audiophile and it's completely transparent to the average/casual user. What is there to consider or evaluate? ReplayGain is a no-brainer. I checked the official FiiO forums and there is this "we are considering it" nonsense for months and months now. The question is will it and if yes, when?ģ. At least for me, although I suspect a lot of people would be interest in this as well.Ģ. I know it's early for any definitive judgments. It's the software feature set that is lacking in most cases.Ĭome on, FiiO! It is your target audience we're talking about!ġ. Why not make the players stand out? One can find other DAPs with pretty good/impressive hardware (xDuoo for example). The X series is obviously aimed at enthusiasts/audiophiles, you know, people who value sound quality and/or good music, as this hardware would be completely wasted on the average Joe with his hip-hop/pop/EDM music and Beats by Dre *phones.Īnd it's none other than the enthusiasts/audiophiles that need features like gapless playback, ReplayGain, crossfeed, etc. So I actually have a vested interest in FiiO improving their stuff.īesides, it's quite puzzling to me. ![]() I've never owned a FiiO product but they look solid and I would really like to upgrade my current Fuze and ClipZip with something superior. It does not inspire confidence, let me put it like that.Īnd it's not like I hate FiiO or anything. ![]() Maybe he meant it will support it at some point? If not, it's not a good sign that employees within the same company are not certain of their own products. ![]()
